Before there was the Republic of Hungary, the Republic of Montenegro andthe Great Socialist People’s Libyan ARab Jamahiriya, now there’s just Hungary, Montenegro and Libya.
List Of Sovereign States By Date Of Formation tells us what was formed and when, but is mainly interesting for the number of places whose reason for formation was either “Independence from Soviet Union declared” or “Independence from the United Kingdom”.
Timeline Of The Far Future takes us through to the end of time to places so far in the future we can’t even imagine the number of years involved. Mind bending. Makes everything seem rather pointless.

- The roads I cycled on (including one stretch which seems to have had its potholes filled in in the last couple of weeks)
- The Citizens Advice Bureau I visited (CAB being part funded by the government)
- My weekly bin collections
- The letters I have received
- Watched ‘Borgen’, ‘Have I Got News For You’, ‘Mrs Dickens’ Family Christmas’, and ‘Match Of The Day’, listened to ‘The News Quiz’ and a bit of Radio 1 and Radio 2 in my mate’s car - all BBC
- The tracks and trains I used to get between cities (despite the latter being theoretically privatised)
- My banking (Natwest)
What have I missed? I haven’t even been that busy so far this year.
